| Project’s social and economic benefits | The Ukhaa Khudag power plant provides electricity to the UKhaa Khudag mining site and infrastructure projects, and to the community of Tsogttsetsiisoum, Umnugoviaimag.
Eighty local companies were involved in the construction of the power plant. When the plant started operating, 140 new jobs were created – 30% of these were filled by local residents. The plant was constructed in its entirety by Mongolian engineers – another first for Mongolia – and gave them valuable experience in developing their project management skills. |
