Five subsidiaries of MCS named “Entrepreneurs of 2024”

At the annual ‘Entrepreneur-2024’ ceremony hosted by the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, five subsidiaries of MCS Group were recognized for their outstanding contributions to Mongolia’s business landscape.
MCS Coca‑Cola LLC and Energy Resources LLC has been named as the “Best Entities of 2024” with each receiving the Silver Mercury award, while Unitel Group was awarded as the “Best Corporate Governance, Social Responsibility & Compliance Entrepreneur”, M bank JSC as the “ Best Banking Entrepreneur”, and Metagro LLC earned “Best Agriculture Entrepreneur” with each receiving the “Bronze Mercury” trophy.

MCS Coca‑Cola LLC introduced advanced, energy‑efficient equipments in 2024, and is rolling out a nationwide “World Without Waste” campaign aimed at reducing, reusing, and ultimately recycling 100 percent of its product packaging.

Energy Resources LLC continues to reliably provide 24‑hour electricity and purified drinking water to Tsogttsetsii soum, while also investing in multiple initiatives for supporting local education and healthcare, small and medium businesses, aiding herders, and has implemented numerous projects aimed at improving local and community infrastructure to boost regional development.

Unitel Group has expanded the number of its solar‑powered cellular towers by 2.5 times since 2021, with one in every six stations now running on renewable energy, avoiding roughly a thousand tonnes of CO2-eq emissions in 2024 alone. The company has also opened “UNITEL HUB” centers in 21 provinces to improve education access in rural communities, while also building over 70 drinking‑water ponds for wildlife to improve wildlife habitat.

Metagro LLC has established itself as a provider of high-quality agricultural products that meet international standards. In 2024, the company has newly commissioned its’ state of the art abattoir, while also reprocessing and composting organic waste from its operations to promote circular agriculture.

M bank JSC, Mongolia’s first fully digital “neobank”, was named the “Banking Entrepreneur of 2024”. The bank offers all services entirely online, eliminating the need for branch visits. In 2024, the company successfully launched its international payment solutions through its M Visa and M UnionPay cards.

MCS Group grants scholarships to 78 students
As part of our commitment to nurture the next generation of skilled professionals, MCS Group has granted tuition scholarships to 78 students.

Selected from over 850 applicants, the scholarship recipients represent 37 fields of study and were chosen based on their academic excellence and problem-solving abilities.

In addition to receiving one year of tuition support, the scholarship recipients will also gain the opportunity to undertake a paid internship in their field of study at MCS Group and its subsidiaries. The recognition is based on key indicators such as taxes paid, sales revenue, employee count, profits, assets, and other indicators.

Over the past five years, MCS Group subsidiaries and affiliates have contributed a remarkable 3.1 trillion MNT in taxes, including 966 billion MNT in 2023 alone. EBRD provides sustainability-linked financing to MCS Coca-Cola LLC

The EBRD has provided a $51.6 million loan—its first sustainability-linked financing in Mongolia—to MCS Coca-Cola LLC to promote sustainable manufacturing practices.

The funds will support MCS Coca-Cola LLC in installing a modern aseptic bottling line and upgrading its water bottling and other packaging equipment. The company will also invest in expanding its distribution fleet with electric e-trucks, acquiring electric forklifts, and constructing an energy-efficient warehouse powered by renewable energy sources.

The loan is supported by the EBRD’s Finance and Technology Transfer Centre for Climate Change (FINTECC) programme. Upon completion of the project, the company aims to significantly improve its plastic packaging collection and recycling processes and enhance water-use efficiency.

 

The National Flag Raised atop the Central Tower for the 13th year

In the spirit of the Naadam Festival, July 10th has been designated as “National Flag Day” since 2009. On this occasion, MCS Group displayed a 30×15 meter national flag, symbolizing the sovereign rights and independence of Mongolia, for the 13th consecutive year atop of the Central Tower building.

The national flag of any country represents the hopes, dreams and aspirations of its people. Honoring it in this manner is a profound expression of pride in the nation, its’ people, history, culture, traditions and independence.

 

The 2024 Champions of Basketball and Table Tennis at MCS Group

The MCS Group Basketball and Table Tennis Championships were successfully held last weekend at the Orchlon School and UG Arena centers. In this year’s basketball tournament, 360 athletes from 25 companies competed for the championship trophy, showcasing their speed, strength and skills.

In the men’s basketball category, MCS Property won the gold medal, becoming champions for the third consecutive year. MCS International secured the silver medal, while Anungoo took home the bronze. The joint team from E-Bazaar Trade and Ontime finished fourth.

In the women’s basketball category, MCS Property claimed the gold medal, Unitel Group won the silver, and Energy Resource’s team took the bronze, with Anungoo securing fourth place.

A Dream Team, composed of the tournament’s top players was also selected. In the men’s category:

For the aggregate score, the team and athletes from MCS Property were awarded the Championship trophy of the basketball competition.

Furthermore, in the table tennis competition, 56 athletes from 19 companies competed in singles and mixed duos.

In the women’s singles category, N. Saruul from Orchlon School won the gold medal, M. Davaasuren from MCS International took the silver, and G. Tuvshinbayar from Selbe School earned the bronze. Sh. Oyunchimeg from Intermed Hospital finished fourth. In the men’s category, G. Bayarbaatar from Energy Resource won the gold medal, Sh. Munkhzul from M-Armor secured the silver, and G. Erdenebat from Total Distribution took the bronze, with O. Bilegt from MCS International securing the fourth place.

In the mixed duos category, S. Ganchimeg and B. Tsolmonbaatar from MCS Property won the gold medal, Ch. Suvd-Erdene and P. Enkhtselmeg from Unitel Group took the silver, at the same time G. Munkhjargal and B. Arvidakh-Od from Energy Resource won the bronze. V. Javzandulam and M. Sumyaabeis from MCS Coca-Cola received the special prize.

MCS Group Announces Its 2024 eSports Champions

MCS Group successfully held its fourth annual eSports championship, featuring competitions in CS2, Dota 2, and PUBG Mobile, on April 27-28, 2024. The event brought together 210 players from 27 companies, with participants being evaluated on team performance, speed, and agility to determine the top performers.

79 students selected for the “MCS Internship” program

MCS Group has commenced the annual “MCS Internship” program, offering university students the opportunity to build their careers systematically, accumulate real-world work experience, and foster personal development, while working alongside top professionals in various fields.

Out of over 600 university students whoapplied across diverse fields, 79 students successfully passed through our selection stages, demonstrating their commitment, knowledge, and skills, and began their paid internships at MCS Group. Additionally, nine of these studentswere immediately offered full-time positions by MCS Holding LLC, MCS International LLC, and Unitel Group .

The interns will gain hands-on experience by working in their chosen fields, such as software development, finance, electrical engineering, human resources, business, agriculture, and other professional areas, across all 18 subsidiaries of MCS Group. Additionally, the interns will have access to self-development courses offered by MCS Academy, enabling them to expand their horizons.

MCS Group Pledges 1.1 Billion MNT in Support for Regions Affected by Extreme Winter

MCS Group is stepping up to provide over 1.1 billion MNT in aid to alleviate the severe conditions gripping the country. Today, the company allocated 500 million MNT to the National Emergency Management Agency, with its subsidiaries and affiliates contributing an additional 600 million MNT in in-kind donations of products and services.

Energy Resources LLC has extended its community support program by offering fodder and other in-kind assistance worth approximately 300 million MNT to herders in the eastern Umnugobi province. Meanwhile, Erdene Mongol LLC, an affiliate of Energy Resources, has allocated 120 million MNT for fodder and hay bales to support herders in Shinejinst and Bayangobi soums in Bayarkhongor province.

Unitel Group is providing 150 million MNT worth of cellular data and messaging services free of charge to 2,800 local emergency management authorities across 21 provinces. Additionally, MCS Coca-Cola, Total Distribution, Wellbee, and DDishTV are collectively contributing products and services valued at 50 million MNT in aid.

Furthermore, Metagro LLC has been actively clearing roads, passageways, and pastures obstructed by the blizzard in the Kherlen soum region of Khentii province since February 19th, employing their heavy machinery for these vital services.

MCS Group Supports Cultural Preservation with a 2.5 Billion MNT Grant

Mongolian arts and nomadic traditions contribute richly to the cultural heritage of humanity, each adding its unique colour to the tapestry of global culture.

MCS Group have previously spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting Mongolia’s national cultural heritage and arts. These include the digitizing sheet music, scores, and clavier compositions of approximately 50 iconic national plays and operas of the State Opera and Ballet Academic Theatre, among them “Uran Khas” and “Three Fateful Hills”. We’ve also meticulously restored and remastered 182 films from the golden age of Mongolian movies, including the “Tsogt Taij” and “Mandukhai the Wise”, and 873 documentaries as part of the “Mongol Kino HD” project.

In 2018, MCS Group initiated the Uv Erdene cultural heritage grants program, aiming to safeguard historical and cultural monuments and artefacts of Mongolia’s national heritage and values. The program, funded with 2.5 billion MNT, supported 15 projects, including the Choijin Lama Temple Museum, Bogd Khan Palace Museum, and Zanabazar Fine Arts Museum in partnership with the Arts Council of Mongolia, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, National Centre for Cultural Heritage, and domestic and foreign monument restoration specialists, and advisors.

As part of the programme, a comprehensive Environmental and Social Impact Assessment with the full list of risks and mitigation recommendations was conducted at the Choijin Lama Temple Museum and the plan for the general layout of the temple, as well as completing full up-to-standard renovations for the interior of the museum, consistent with the architecture and traditional environment. Furthermore, a blueprint for the renovations for the Yadam temple and the Inner Gate restoration was completed, while the care and services for the green space of the museum are further planned to be financed.

At the Bogd Khan Palace Museum, the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment was completed which included the recommendations and comprehensive preservation plans for the preservation, protection, and restoration of the Museum.

To promote cultural heritage and fine arts to the youth, interactive exhibits were introduced to the Zanabazar Fine Arts Museum, delivering visual and audio guides using AR glasses.

Landscaping was also completed at The Palace of Setsen Khan Museum, a site with significant historical and cultural importance for Mongolia, which includes the renovations of the outer area, the creation of green spaces, preservation and protection, and the installation of lighting fixtures, creating a public leisure area.

As part of the Uv Erdene programme, Amarbayasgalant Monastery was supplied with tools and equipment to protect the structure from natural risks, cleaned the overgrowth on the roof, and installed anti-bird nets. The programme also completed the interior renovations of the Art restoration laboratory at the National Gallery of Arts and financed the “Mongolian Melody” dual vinyl record of the Morin Khuur Ensemble of Mongolia.

At the “Entrepreneur” award ceremony organized by the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce, four subsidiaries of MCS Group were honored with an ‘Entrepreneur’ award, with MCS Coca-Cola LLC and Energy Resources LLC distinguished as the ‘Top Company of the Year’ receiving the “Silver Mercury” award.

Today, the top companies of 2023 raised their flags in front of the MNCCI building. The flags of MCS Coca-Cola LLC, and Energy Resources LLC, were raised, along with the flags of Khanbogd Cashmere LLC, Sky Hypermarket LLC, Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Mongoliin Alt LLC, Erdenet Mining Corporation, Nomin Holding LLC, Mobicom Corporation LLC, Khan Bank JSC, TESO LLC, and Green Group LLC.

Registration for the MCS Internship-2024, a paid internship program, has commenced.

MCS Group has announced the commencement of the MCS Internship program for the second year, accepting applications from university students for the opportunity to attend our paid internship program. The program aims to provide students with the opportunity to systematically establish their careers, accumulate real-world work experience, and foster personal development while delving into corporate culture.

MCS Group has previously granted scholarships to over 300 students. Since 2022, we have launched the internship program focused on preparing students for their professional careers by creating opportunities to train and develop real-world practical skills, attended by 149 students over the last 2 years. Additionally, students attending personal development courses at MCS Academy and participating in mentorship meetings will expand their network. Students majoring in Business Administration and Information Technology at overseas universities can also attend the program remotely.

During last year’s internship program, 63 interns from 10 universities participated and received job offers to continue working at MCS Group, kickstarting their careers.

Metagro LLC, situated in the Chandgana Valley of Kherlen Soum, Khentii Province, has established itself as a provider of high-quality agricultural products meeting international standards. With investments from MCS Group, Metagro has implemented state-of-the-art facilities, including a cattle feedlot, feed mill, abattoir, and advanced arable farming practices. The company prioritizes food quality and quality assurance through the adoption of innovative technologies and guidance from international experts.

Energy Resources LLC has been actively contributing to community development by allocating over 30 billion MNT towards local procurement and infrastructure and sustainability projects. The company also ensures round-the-clock electricity and freshwater supply to the Tsogttsetsii soum.

Erchim Suljee LLC is committed to integrating sustainable development goals into its operations and leveraging cutting-edge technology in its industry. The company has initiated a project to establish an electric vehicle recharge infrastructure, with five locations already established in 2023, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Metagro LLC Recognized as “Best Producer” in Food and Agriculture Industry

Metagro LLC has been honored with the prestigious title of “Best Producer of the Food and Agriculture Industry” in the Khentii Province by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry. This recognition underscores Metagro’s significant contribution to food security and its commendable efforts in meeting both domestic and international demands.

MCS Group chess and volleyball championship took place

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, MCS Group organized a series of sports tournaments throughout the year, including e-sports, 3×3 and 5×5 basketball, table tennis, chess, and volleyball championships for all employees.

The volleyball championship, held last weekend, saw 340 athletes from 34 teams competing fiercely. In the women’s championship, Unitel Group emerged victorious, with MCS Property, Energy Resources, and MCS Coca-Cola securing second, third, and fourth place respectively. In the men’s category, Unitel Group claimed the gold, followed by MCS Property and Energy Resources in silver and bronze positions, with M-Armor securing fourth place. As part of the aggregate score, Unitel Group took home the championship cup.

This year’s volleyball championship introduced a new feature where the best players were selected from all positions, forming the dream team of the year.For the best players in men’s competition:

Additionally, the MCS Group Chess competition, hosted annually by M-Armor, featured 63 chess players from 21 companies contending for the championship. The team from MCS Investment secured the gold medal, while DDishTV and MCS Property teams claimed silver and bronze respectively. In singles matches, Altaikhuu.G of Metagro clinched gold for the first chair, followed by Ankhbayar.B from Selbe School Complex and Azzaya.P of MCS Coca-Cola for the second and third chairs respectively.

During the chess championship, GM Bilguun.G participated in a blind simultaneous match with three players, while IM Amartuvshin.G took on ten opponents simultaneously. A children’s chess competition, now in its second year, attracted 32 participants.

The “Tōnot” brand is born, marrying aesthetics and ethics

The Tōnot brand, characterized by sustainably created cashmere with a conscience, has been launched. It aims to enable future generations to practice conscious consumption by choosing ethically produced goods that do not harm the Earth.

To protect the reputation and value of Mongolia’s esteemed cashmere fabric and prevent pasture degradation, all stakeholders involved in the supply chain must recognize their responsibility to implement sustainable production practices and meet consumer behaviour requirements.

MCS Group, in line with its commitment to sustainable development, has established the Tōnot brand to introduce model sustainable production into the Mongolian cashmere sector.

Raw materials are sourced in accordance with the ‘Responsible Nomad’ national standard, ensuring compliance with livestock, pasture, and animal welfare requirements.Using the Raw Materials Traceability System (RMTS) and a full tracing system developed by TechPack Group, Tōnot ensures a responsible and ethical product from livestock to final product.

Three cooperatives and seven manufacturers collaborated in preparing the Tōnot product, with designs by Simona from Studio Philo in Italy and the Atoz brand.

Tōnot cashmere, made with ethically sourced materials and contributions from herders preserving Mongolia’s unique heritage, takes its first step toward beautifully produced cashmere for those who care for ethical fashion.

Tōnot brand products, packaged in reusable materials made from cotton and recycled plastic, are available for purchase at the pop-up store from November 15th to 19th at the Shangri-La Mall.

Metagro, a subsidiary of MCS enters the market

Metagro LLC, a subsidiary of MCS Group, has started selling ‘Primeat,’ a brand of high-quality beef from the agricultural complex in the Chandgana Valley, located in Kherlen Soum of the Khentii Province.

Established in 2021, Metagro LLC aims to provide high-quality agricultural products meeting international standards to domestic and foreign markets. The company has implemented a project to establish a state-of-the-art complex, including a cattle feedlot, feed mill, abattoir, and smart arable farming practices.

Metagro LLC has been implementing with guidance and advice from international experts to ensure food quality and quality assurance on soil-conserving no-tillage technology, smart arable farming, and irrigation systems to guarantee high yield.

Furthermore, the company prioritizes a productive, safe, and healthy workplace for our employees and has delivered the necessary investment in technology, including food safety measures and environmentally friendly operations, making it a model project for companies operating in remote areas.

MCS Group talent show “MCS Stars” took place

The MCS Stars talent show, held last weekend in celebration of MCS Group’s 30th anniversary, drew enthusiastic participation. The event aimed to unearth hidden talents among employees and coworkers, attracting over 870 participants from 29 companies and affiliates within the MCS Group. Throughout the day-long competition, teams showcased their diverse talents, bringing the entire MCS community together.

Following a spirited competition, the Unitel Group emerged victorious, claiming the Championship Trophy. Orchlon School Complex and MCS Estates secured the second and third places, respectively. Additionally, TechPack Group and Top Motors received special recognition for their outstanding performances.

Among the standout performers, Ganbaatar.A from Sky Resort was honored as the ‘Super Star’ for his captivating portrayal of Elvis Presley. The event not only highlighted the talents within MCS Group but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and celebration among participants.

2023 champions of 3×3 basketball at MCS Group

MCS Group hosted the third 3×3 basketball tournament last weekend in celebration of its 30th anniversary. The event featured 156 athletes from 22 men’s and 18 women’s teams.

The men’s team from M bank secured first place, followed by MCS International in second and Energy Resources in third. E-Bazaar Trade’s team clinched fourth place.

In the women’s section, Unitel Group, MCS Coca-Cola, MCS Property, and TechPack Group secured the first, second, third, and fourth places, respectively.

Overall, Unitel Group emerged as the champion for the third consecutive time. Furthermore, Darkhanbayar.B representing M bank and Tuvshinzaya.O representing Unitel LLC have emerged as the MVPs of the tournament.

MCS Group Publishes its Sustainability Report

Global climate change underscores the imperative for businesses, alongside countries and global organizations, to address current needs without compromising the well-being of future generations and the environment.

Aligned with Mongolia’s ‘Vision 2050’ and our long-term objective of achieving ‘Net-Zero’ status, MCS Group has integrated the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our operations by adopting an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.

At MCS Group, our key areas of focus within the ESG framework include sustainable resource management, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, workforce support, fostering diversity and inclusion, and promoting transparent governance to drive social development.

Furthermore, we have begun introducing a sustainable production and operations framework across MCS operations, aiming to enhance our environmental performance.

A key highlight of the report is the assessment of greenhouse gas emissions conducted at select MCS Group subsidiaries, aligning with Mongolia’s objective to reduce emissions by 22.7 by 2030.

Additionally, we acknowledge the significance of transparent, ethical, and responsible governance in achieving sustainable development goals. To this end, we have implemented the ESG framework in our consumer goods and telecommunications businesses.

Through these efforts, MCS Group remains committed to driving sustainable practices and contributing to positive social and environmental outcomes.
